Sunny spells fade as a light snow risk grows this evening with a 50 percent chance of light snow development late. Lows around 30. Saturday turns cloudy with periods of snow or rain, then changing to rain by afternoon. Highs in the upper 30s.
In support of National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month the Gettysburg Times promotes awareness tips and facts throughout December. The message encourages giving less alcohol and fewer servings to customers or guests who may be driving to improve highway safety and urges readers to take a stand.
The Gettysburg Times will raise subscription prices effective January 1, 1905 to offset higher postal costs. Second class postage rises 15 percent. New rates: one month 8.75, two months 17.50, three months 25, six months 43, one year 875, out-of-area 86 per year. Single copy remains 36 cents.
Investigators in the Abbottstown double homicide case continued silent as they seek new information about the stabbing deaths of Philip and Rachel Hoover. Trooper Southard said no new details have emerged and officials would not confirm motives beyond ruling out robbery. Funeral for the Hoovers drew 700 mourners at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren.
Littlestown School Board may replace its solicitor with Charles Gerow of Camp Hill to assist John Phillips. President Dr. John Legutko said duties are not clearly defined and the board hopes Gerow will advise for three to six months. An executive session followed Tuesday’s vote to employ him regularly.
Harry C. Pappas owner of Krystal Cadillac Oldsmobile GMO Truck and Krys tal Jeep Eagle in Gettysburg waived a preliminary hearing and will likely be arraigned in Adams County Court of Common Pleas on a charge of false application for title or registration. State trooper Weeks says a lien was not disclosed, keeping the lien status hidden while the vehicle received a clear title. The dealer operates under Chapter 11 bankruptcy as cases proceed.
At a Thursday public hearing Littlestown residents, led by Russell Fish, denounced proposed three year Littlestown Area Education Association contract and salary cuts for advisers and coaches. Fish warned directors of voting consequences next election, while some directors fired back with blunt remarks as about 40 people watched.
