Holiday Bureau Closes Tonight at Adams Counts

Donations of 101s and cash may be brought to the Adams Counts Holiday Bureau until 9 pm. The final gifts and redeemable certificates will be distributed Saturday as volunteers and organizers thank county residents for the Christmas generosity. Pa Supreme Court halts certification of representative

First Walk For The United Way

The Exec Trek group of walking executives will meet at the Gettysburg YWCA on Thursday December 21 for a 10 mile walk to the Dutch Pantry for a free lunch and to raise funds for Adams County United Way. Adams County Courthouse Nears Opening Date

Inspectors confirm the Adams County courthouse is nearly finished with minor finishing tasks remaining. Heating and cooling balancing, plumbing and electrical hookups, and furnishing installation continue while officials await a formal occupancy certificate. A February completion is possible but not assured, with furniture expected mid February and uncertain office move timing.

Goodling Warns of Public Job Programs Cuts Likely

80 Year Old Dr Sloat recalls school by riding train

80 year old Dr C Het Sloat recounts his schooling path in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Born 1838 in a log house at Cashtown, he moved to Orranna at ten, rode trains to Gettysburg High, passed exams to attend Gettysburg High, and later earned a 41 year chemistry professorship at Gettysburg College before retiring a decade ago. He and his wife traveled Europe thrice since retirement, pursuing photography and gardening.
