The Adams County Office for Aging awarded six individuals and four organizations for outstanding service to seniors. Recipients include Catherine M. Sullivan, Helen Tunison, Marion Harbaugh, Marie Fox, and John, with groups such as Lower Adams Meals on Wheels and Gettysburg Meals on Wheels recognized. Mrs Mamie D. Biglerville Keeps Four Mill Tax Rate In 1979 Budget

Biglerville Borough adopts a budget maintaining a four mill real estate tax and a 0.5 percent earned income tax plus a $5 per capita tax. The General Account stands at 149,093.41 dollars with various budgets for Sewer Highway Aid and Capital Reserve. Christmas Show At Planetarium At Gettysburg College

A special Christmas show will be presented at Gettysburg College's Hatter Planetarium this Sunday December 17 at 7:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Dr Laurence Marschall the college astronomer will lead a program examining whether there is a historical basis for the Star of Bethlehem using music light and visual displays to explore what might have happened in the heavens nearly two millennia ago.

New President Named for Adams County Bar Association

Donald G Oyler was elected president of the Adams County Bar Association at its annual meeting in the Adams County Courthouse Law Library. Chester G. Thomas Collins Chosen to Fill Biesecker Commissioner Post

A Gettysburg man, Thomas L. Collins, was nominated by the Adams County Republican committee to be county commissioner after Harry F. Biesecker resigns. Judge Oscar F. Spicer will name the successor next Wednesday at 9 am in county court. Collins, a former school teacher and painting contractor, is a Gettsyburg School Board vice president, Mt. St. Mary’s College 1983 graduate, married to Nancy L Johnson, and a member of several local and national groups.

Gettysburg Fire Department Elects New Chief and Officers

James Nett was re elected to a fourth term as president while Robert Fapree ta rone to his first term as vice president. Gerald White steps down after five years as chief. Holiday Bureau Closes Friday in Adams County

The Holiday Bureau, in its 21st year at Gettysburg Presbyterian Church, closes Friday December 3 to receive gifts and toys from Adams County citizens. 325 families, including 67 children 12 and under, need help. 24 hours remain to meet needs with new toys and redeemable bill certificates. Volunteers assist from 9:00 to 30 p.m., and gifts will be distributed Saturday or soon after.

Radio Board to Act On Sheriff’s Request on Frequency Change

Sheriff Bernard V Miller seeks to put his department on the same radio frequency as local police. The county commissioners and the Radio Board of Governors will decide, with the Law Enforcement Association’s input not required, amid a county owned equipment changeover. Miller cites jealousy from some local officers yet expects board approval. Fox, Miller, and Herring sit on the board with Guise as non voting member. A Monday board meeting is tentatively planned.

Vance Seeks Israeli Agreement on Egyptian Peace Pact

Secretary of State Cyrus Vance failed to win Prime Minister Menachem Begin's consent to U S favored terms for the Egyptian peace treaty. Vance planned to return to Cairo and Washington, as Begin convened a special cabinet meeting to decide the government's course of action. Both sides kept peace as a common goal, with a final meeting expressing shared aims.
