About 150 people attended a combined Christmas and victory party by the Adams County Democratic Club in Gettysburg. Gary Yours praised the committee for organizing the event and congratulated Adams County leaders on keeping taxes down. Kenneth J. Cole, after a recount, won re election to the state assembly amid a GOP tidal wave. He thanked supporters and recalled letters from friends including distant well wishers.

Cross and Flame Singers Plan Advent Concert Sunday
The Cross and Flame Singers of Gettysburg United Methodist Church will present an Advent concert Sunday at 7 30 p m in the church sanctuary. Rev William If Barr leads the program titled A Song of Songs featuring songs about Gods love. The 35 member choir includes five from St James Lutheran Church and two from St Francis Catholic Church plus one each from several area churches. Their season opened last Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Wainui Bottom. A tour is planned for February 15 with stops in Florence Florence Orlando Gainesville and Sumter with a day at Disneyworld. program numbers include Step Into the Sunshine Great Big Beautiful Day and Here In is Love.

Holiday Bureau Seeks Donors for Christmas Toy Drive
Adams County Holiday Bureau issues urgent plea for new and used toys for children 12 and under. Dolls bicycles wagons and minor repairs welcome. Toy distribution planned Saturday Dec 16 with 500 children to receive at least one gift. National Park Visitors Rise in 1978
NPS reports a 30 percent rise in visitors year to date through August 1978 compared with 1977. Total travel to date reached 1,520,322 versus 1,577,738 the previous year, with the Visitor Center hosting a large crowd and the adjacent Ciclorama Center recording 13,265 visitors.

Three Accidents In 35 Minutes In Gettysburg
Three rear end and passing crashes occurred within 35 minutes late Friday afternoon in Gettysburg. At 3 05 pm Luis A Camacho 16 Carlisle St eastbound on Chambersburg St tried to pass Ed ward MecCombe driving a 1973 Oldsmobile causing a collision with Anthony W Poore of Silver Spring Md and a McCombe vehicle. At 4 30 Rovert L Plank of Gettysburg collided with a 1972 Mercury Caprice driven by Darlene K Gardner of Littlestown Rd. The third crash involved Steven Grube of Gettysburg who was stopped at Baltimore and Middie Streets when another vehicle rear ended him. Police are investigating.

Monroe M L Kroft 35th highway death in county this year died from crushed chest injuries after his 1970 Pontiac sedan slid across the highway and collided with a southbound white Freightliner and Great Dane trailer one mile north of Cross Keys. He was pronounced dead at Hanover General Hospital. Funeral 2 p.m. Monday at Fred M. Sauter Funeral Home East Berlin with burial at Salem Union Cemetery Dover.

Vincentian Priest Rev Wahler Curtis Dies at 78
Vincentian Priest Rev Wahler Lawrence D Curtis of Knuytsburg Maryland dies Friday at 78. Born in West Virginia to James D and Nelle Margaret Curtis, he was ordained June 2 1928 and served in China as local superior for Vincentian Fathers. He faced house arrest in the 1930s and returned to the United States in 1952. He later held multiple roles including Pent curator of St Pius Seminary Philadelphia and chaplaincies in Washington Baltimore and Immaculate Conception Church Baltimore. Funeral services are slated for Monday at St Josephs Provincial House Emmitsburg with burial in St Josephs Cemetery Princeton.

Adams County Tax Claim Bureau Totals Over $660000 Since 1973
The Adams County tax claim bureau has collected more than 660 500 in taxes since its first sale in 1973. Director Deniel J. Wolff notes this year’s intake reached 132 382 31. The bureau started five years ago under county commissioners Kenneth Grise Harry Biesecker and Ward Taylor, with state law two years later making bureaus mandatory in Pennsylvania.

Candlelight Tour To Be Held Sunday In York Springs Area

Man jailed after Breckenridge St shooting this morning
Getissburg police say Benny Lee Harris of 36 was charged after firing five rounds from a revolver at a vehicle owned by Harn Smith on Breckenridge St. In the car were two passengers Delenia Deavers and Sara Sumon who escaped injury. Harris was committed to Adams County Prison in lieu of 2100 bond.
