Musselman Foundationdonates 250000 for YW recreation center

Unemployment Rate Unchanged In November

The Labor Department reported November unemployment held at 5.8 percent as adult men added most of the 3.4 hundred thousand jobs created. Women and teens had led gains earlier, while men’s employment rose to 51.9 million and the overall employment rate reached 39.1 percent.

Pearl Harbor attack anniversary recalled by retired chaplain

Retired Chaplain Col. J H August Borleis recounted the December 7 1941 Pearl Harbor attack at the World War Last Man's Club dinner in the American Legion Home on Baltimore Street. Court Denies Lighter Sentence For Stealing Weapons

State police seek vandals who shattered windshields of two PennDOT trucks parked about 30 miles west of C. sometime Wednesday night or early Thursday. Officials said the damage included inspection stickers and caused the vehicles to be unserviceable.

Meals Group Honors Its Volunteers in Gettysburg

The Gettysburg Area Meals-on-Wheels program honored its volunteers at a Christmas tea held Thursday at 49 West Broadway Gettysburg. Volunteers received carnations and were thanked by committee hosts led by Mrs Rream Achiei and Mrs James Mex Musselmar. With 118 active volunteers, the group provides meals and rides, serving 166 meals on a typical day and relying on community support for cars, time, and donations.

Dairy DHIA Banquet Celebrates Long Run of County’s Herd Metrics

Adams County DHIA members gathered Thursday for a banquet commemorating decades of dairy improvements. Thomas E. Piper lauded the county’s record, noting 32 herds tested year round and an average of 3,122 cows per month, with last year’s county milk production at 14,890 pounds and butterfat at 568 pounds, above state averages. Golda Meir Dies Former Israeli Prime Minister

Washington reports Golda Meir former prime minister of Israel died early today at age 80 in Jerusalem his jaundice hospitalization since October 38. Hadassah Hospital statement said her condition was unsatisfactory and caused anxiety Avi Pazner confirmed. Meir led Israel through the Yom Kippur War and pursued peace moves with Egypt and Syria drawing global attention. She had been in and out of hospital for months receiving many messages including a long scroll from Tokyo.
