Tuesday Weather Outlook with Mild Week Ahead

Forecast calls for mostly sunny Tuesday with a high near 50 and northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Tonight clears to a low around 25 to 30, Wednesday brings more sun with a lower 50s high, and Thursday remains mild with upper 30s to low 50s. Man charged in stabbing death of Philadelphia writer

Javier Goode, 20, was charged after footage of his photo led to tips and his arrest. The 59 year old Philadelphia Daily News columnist W. Russell G. Byers and his wife Laurada Beacham were attacked near a convenience store when a man with a fake gun demanded their wallets. Byers died from a stab wound to the chest.

Suspect Arrested in Baltimore Slayings

In Baltimore police arrested 27 year old Ismael Malik Wilson for the killing of five women including a grandmother her daughter and granddaughter found shot in a home. Arrest warrants were issued for three other men as witnesses pointed to the four. One person escaped the house and may have identified the suspects.

Slim Sistrunk Remembered By Police Colleagues

Roosevelt Slim Sistrunk a veteran boro police officer died after heart complications. Born 1935 in Townsexid Georgia he moved to Adams County in 1950 as a migrant worker later joining PennDOT as a motor mower operator until a political shift ended that job. He was known for his jovial nature and strong work ethic.

Park officials break ground on temporary storage facility

Gettysburg battlefield officials start a 4700 square foot metal storage building behind the maintenance site on Taneytown Road and Pleasanton Avenue to protect archives and museum artifacts amid a family lawsuit seeking return of Civil War relics. The $528000 project includes converting 900 square feet for archival work and is a stopgap before a new visitor center under a park management plan approved Nov. 24. Construction should take about 90 days.

Monahan Will Not Seek 19th District Seat

Gettysburg businessman Robert J. Monahan Jr. said he will not run for the 19th congressional seat, citing family and business priorities. No tax hike in Straban

Straban Township will not raise its tax levy as the 2000 budget was adopted with a .46 mil real estate tax and $2 per capita. Clear Shot Management receives an extension to January 4 to pursue a Rocky Grove Road cellular tower across from Drummer Bay Campground, pending historic district review. Adams County Economic Development Corp updated the board on the proposed Commerce Park and the need for a development plan before subdivision.
