Zamboni gets 24 year plea in Adams County shooting case

Bryan William Zamboni of East Berlin receives 24 to 48 months plus fines after pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault in the July 9 Checkerboard Inn shooting that killed Israel Bratini Figaro and wounded Adolfo Bravo. He is granted furlough and work release, with 30 days to appeal.

Gettysburg Times Partners With WGET for Holiday Food Drive

Bob Mathers will broadcast live from the Gettysburg Times on December 13 from 1 to 5 p.m. to promote a food drive for SCCAP. Donations of canned goods and paper products are accepted at 18 Carlisle St. through December 14, with cash gifts also welcome. A free 16 word ad is offered for donations of six cans per day.

Hamilton township eyes house numbering law and 1991 budget

Hamilton Township Supervisors discussed an ordinance to require visible house numbers to aid fire companies. A public hearing date was not set. They approved a 1991 budget of 238730 with a 49000 carryover and a millage of 1.5528. An Act 537 package approval was noted, with meetings set for Jan 7 and Jan 8 at the township building.

Straban Township planning commission hears residents at a 2 hour meeting over a proposed comprehensive plan. About 450 acres along Old Harrisburg Road are marked commercial industrial owned by Roy Weaner and family. William Frassanito urges justification for the designation while engineer Tim Cormany of Martin and Martin Inc. suggests submitting the list to the planning commission.

Franklin Township approves 1991 budget and loader purchase

Franklin Township supervisors formally adopt the 1991 budget with state fund 1 475 16 and general fund 3 661 04. They approve a five year lease purchase for a 1990 John Deere Loader at 41 570 after trade and rental deductions.

Gettysburg welcomes USS Gettysburg crew for history tour weekend

Forty sailors will visit Gettysburg this weekend to study local history. They arrive Saturday morning at the Quality Inn Gettysburg and tour the Electric Map before lunch at Gettysburg College. The afternoon includes a battlefield tour and Sunday a community project at Little Round Top. They depart for Moorestown, New Jersey that evening.

Borough leaf collection schedule announced for Gettysburg

Adams County officials said Gettysburg Borough will make a final pass on leaves in the north end on Monday December 10 and again on Monday December 17 for alleys. Residents are reminded leaves do not need to be bagged.
