Optimists To Stage Merry Christmas Mother Goose Show

The Fanfare Theatre Ensemble will present Merry Christmas Mother Goose in Gettysburg Junior High Auditorium on December 11. The Optimist Club of Gettysburg funds tickets for underprivileged children while selling adult tickets at the door. Two Story Log House Damaged By Fire Near Fairfield

A two story log house burned extensively Friday evening on Iron Springs Road west of Fairfield. Fire officials cited a likely stove fault and fire spread through the main floor, destroying the kitchen and damaging the second story. No injuries were reported. multiple fire companies assisted and no damage estimate was available.

Robbery Charges Against Florida Pair in Adams County

A 24-year-old Florida man and a Winter Haven resident faced robbery related charges after two men allegedly entered the Big sant Store in late September, assaulted a clerk, and fled with 223 dollars. Allister H. Rodgers surrendered to Gettysburg Borough Police and is held on 10,000 dollar bail. Jack Luckett remains jailed in Florida with no bail set. extradition proceedings are under way. Auditions Set for Cerebral Palsy Benefit in York and Adams

Auditions for a musical benefit by York Adams Chapter of United Cerebral Palsy of South Central Pennsylvania are scheduled for Friday December 12 from 7 to 10 PM at the Holiday Inn Gettysburg and Saturday December 13 from 9 AM to noon at the Hanover Elks Club. Actors dancers and singers may audition two to three minutes in their talent. musical groups and other acts welcome. An accompanist tape recorder and record player will be provided. Two Injured In Crash Near Gardners

Two Carlisle residents suffered minor injuries when a 1971 Chevrolet driven by Tina Nestor 17 of Carlisle veered north on Rt. 34 struck an earthen embankment near the Rice Pruit Company north of Gardners just after 3 am. The car left the ground clipped trees then rested on its hood before Nestor and passenger John Laughman 22 were helped to Warner Hospital by Biglerville Fire Company.

Violence Against Women Is Pervasive In Area Says Public Health Director

Gladys Parks, public health director for Adams and Franklin Counties, called violence against women and children very pervasive at a Gettysburg luncheon. Speakers outlined abuse, available services, and steps to help battered women, noting shelters are scarce and many evade shelters due to danger.
