Adams County Commissioner Catherine Cowan will not seek re election

Longtime Adams County Commissioner Catherine W Cowan announced she will not run again when her third term ends next December. Speaking at a Gettysburg restaurant the 47 year old Democrat said the decision came after long deliberation and that she would finish this year and decide her future path. She will continue work to improve Youth and Children's Services and the county prison system while remaining in community roles. Her successors were not named but she urged candidates with broad experience in community work is needed.

Littlestown forms intermunicipal task force to guide growth

Littlestown officials announce a 12 member intermunicipal task force to study regional growth issues and coordinate plans with Mount Joy Mount Pleasant Germany Union Townships Littlestown Borough and the Littlestown School District The group aims to address traffic flow police and fire protection while syncing with Adams County plans as the county updates its 20 year Comprehensive Plan based on 1990 Census data and PennDOT traffic projections

Biglerville Council Tackles Sewer Repairs and Trash Plan

Biglerville Borough Council discussed progress on 12 completed sewer repairs after smoke testing and extended deadlines for six homeowners. A winter delay was noted while a state agency demands the 1963 project costs be itemized for grant adjustments. The meeting also outlined a three year trash reduction plan with recycling, composting, and a quarterly fee to fund the sewer and waste program.

Times collects donations at Gettysburg office this holiday

The Gettysburg Times serves as a collection point for food and paper products to aid SCCAP pantries. Donations accepted during business hours through December 14 at 18 Carlisle Street. Donors receive a free two line classified ad if they give at least six cans.
