State patrol fines reach 100000 in five months
Captain John M. Bender of Troop D Williamsport told the Lions Club in Gettysburg that Pennsylvania motorists face $100 000 in fines in five months for motor code violations by buses and trucks. He noted patrol growth from 100 to 485 and a planned rise to 600, and urged courteous driving and cooperation with enforcement for safer highways. Next week Gettysburg College and high school football teams will be guests at the Lions meeting.

McCloy Named 1930 Captain of Gettysburg Bullets
Merritt Jakie McCloy, 1929 quarterback of the Orange and Blue Bullets, was elected captain of the 1930 Gettysburg college eleven after directing the team in the Franklin and Marshall showdown. Local motorists in head on collision on bridge
Two drivers HL Plank of Gettysburg and C L Shank of Waynesboro were slightly injured in a head on crash on a bridge south of Letterburg Monday at about 5 pm. Mrs A J Hoffman of Hagerstown and Donald Shank suffered minor cuts and bruises. Plank was ordered by State Officer Shockley to post 10.75 dollars collateral for failing to keep to the right of the road center.

A Celtic translated copy of the Gettysburg Address, Lincoln's famed speech, was added to the Abraham Lincoln collection in Springfield Illinois. Custodian Herbert Wells Fay says it marks the first foreign language presentation of the address. The translated copy was sent by M O Flannigan of Brooklyn to Fay, after a visit to the Lincoln shrine, and the translator is J J O Kelly, president of Sinn Fein.

Woman Shot By Son To Leave Local Hospital
Mrs. Frederick Stalb of near Stone Jug was discharged from Warner hospital this afternoon after being accidentally shot by her 2 year old son William in their kitchen last Thursday. Her condition was reported as good as could be expected. Other patients discharged include Mrs. Elmira Longnecker and Gladys McFerron. Court allows proprietress to defend case in open judgment
Mrs. Alice Collins of Littlestown restaurant was allowed to defend a $1 504.93 judgment against her after Judge D P McPherson opened the case on a rule to show cause. The issue is whether Collins signed a note that the Lit tlestown Savings Institution discounted. Collins alleges forged by Miller, a Greek partner, who fled with proceeds. Also, Mrs C W Bagot was fined 100 and costs for pointing and discharging a firearm at neighbor Brannon, with bonds set to keep the peace. Robert Hascieprun of Gettysburg placed on probation for two years and fined 25 plus costs for larceny. Six Baltimore Blacks released on probation for violating prohibition laws. D Seibert Smyth appealed. motor patrolmen charged Seibert with improper passing, but Judge McPherson dismissed for lack of jurisdiction as Seibert was not nearest justice.
