The Cumberland Township amusement tax dispute over the National Battlefield Tower will not be heard before February. Kevin Bream, 14, of Frederick Maryland, continues steady improvement at Jean Hopkins Hospital Baltimore after a 22 caliber rifle discharged while the youth was hunting pigeons on his grandparents farm in Hamiltonban Township near Fairfield. Police Chief Gregory Santay accompanied the family to the hospital to conclude the investigation. The bullet entered the right temple and exited the back, injuring motor function on the left side. If progress continues, he may leave intensive care later this week.
A two car crash occurred Tuesday morning at the York Hanover Liberty Sts. intersection in Gettysburg borough. At 11:10 a.m. Raymond Greenwald of Columbia Maryland failed to yield right of way, colliding with Paul W Cluck of Congabung seeking eastbound travel. both vehicles had light damage.

The Ninth Anniversary Harvest Festival at Get sture Lutheran Home runs noon to 5 30 pm on Saturday September 15. Lutheran churches from the South Region join with food handwork plants and flea market items. Steering committee includes Mr and Mrs Donald Hudson and Dr and Mrs Bruce Beacher. Entertainment features Cannonaders Square dancers Katzenjammers Lembo Shrine clowns and music by five district churches. Chicken corn soup and ham sandwich lunch offered at last year’s prices. Coordinators include Mrs Reme Klinefelter Biglerville information booth and Mrs Grace Bittinger.
The 1979 Lake Heritage Regatta features a marathon at 9 a.m. Saturday, tennis, shuffleboard, softball, horseshoes, and volleyball, plus a Saturday night party. Sunday offers diving, swimming, canoe and rowboard races, raft, skiing, sailing, inner tube, motorboat contests, and a ski exhibition by Seneca Md Bees and regional champion teams. The New Oxford Fire Company will launch its annual solicitation campaign for 15000 starting September 4. Firefighters will wear identification tags, company shirts with badges and use fire department vehicles. Donors receive tax deductible receipts, a window decal and a pencil with the fire company's name and emergency number. If no one is home a letter and envelope will be left to receive a donation. Last year the drive surpassed 10000. The first night covers Route 30 areas including Brickcraft to Hunterstown and east Pine Tree to Beaver Run, with other segments listed. second night covers Route 9 South to Appler Rd and Oxford Rd including Cedar Ridge and Centennial Rd segments.
