A prolonged rainy period and disease reduced Adams County tart cherry crop by about 2,000 tons worth roughly 320,000 dollars. County Agent Thomas Piper cited heavy rain during peak season as the main cause, with one quarter of the crop abandoned. Cherries remaining were left on trees as processing declined while peaches show strong sizing and growers store irrigation gear.
