Angela Hall of Littlestown High School is named the first Adams County Young Woman of the Year. She earns a $2,000 scholarship plus two $50 awards and joins runner up Rhonda Markle who wins $500. Other awardees include Alison Houck and Aldonna Stremmel.

Mount Joy man shot while walking near home
Samuel M. Wood, 69, of Mount Joy Township, was wounded by a stray .22 caliber bullet while walking about 300 feet from his home on Saturday evening near Cedar Ridge Golf Course. Police say no suspects yet and the investigation continues. Wood was treated and released from Gettysburg Hospital.

Adams Countians at D C abortion rally
Adams County Pennsylvanians for Human Life members joined a National Right to Life Rally in Washington in heat and sun. About 135 Adams countians rode by bus with others from the county to join an estimated crowd of 200,000 to 700,000 at the event praised by Bush and Quayle. Dr James Dobson urged voting against pro abortion candidates, parental control of schools, and conservative Supreme Court picks. Hyde praised vetoes of abortion funding bills, while no new administration moves were announced.
