Former Gettysburg College coach and Hall of Famer Davies dies
Bob Davies, Basketball Hall of Fame member and former Rochester Royals star who coached at Gettysburg College, died of cancer at 70 in Hilton Head. A native of Harrisburg, he led Rochester to NBL and NBA titles, earned league MVP in 1946-47, and later served as Gettysburg’s head coach from 1955 to 1957. He was active in youth sports and worked for Converse Rubber Co. in later years.
