Pa gains control for SCCAP funding under new federalism
Pennsylvania now funds South Central Community Action Programs Inc. SCCAP covers Adams and Franklin counties and is administered by the Office of Community Services in the Bureau of Human Resources, Department of Community Affairs. About 15.2 million dollars is budgeted for such programs with an additional 7.2 million from competitive grants. The Prince of Peace Episcopal Church in Gettysburg will offer an adult day care center starting in May for adults 18 and older with various ailments. The program aims to be self sustaining, funded by client fees and donations, with a sliding scale from 5 to 20 dollars per day and space for 25 to 30 participants, staffed by two workers at launch.

Adams County Commissioners will appoint a task force to study county prison facilities and programs and to propose a plan to meet corrections needs for the next 20 years. Youths Plant Shade Trees at Gettysburg Park
Gettysburg High School vocational agriculture students planted 75 shade trees along Steinwehr Avenue at the Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center. Led by Hal Greenlee and Ronald Sollenberger the three day effort followed beautification plan goals and involved student selection of trees including 25 little leaf lindens 25 red oaks and 25 white oaks native to the area. The project may be entered in the Future Farmers of America Providing Our American Communities competition.
