Mount Joy waste facility plan dumped

A brief fax from Waste Management of Pennsylvania informs Adams County that plans to build a 15 acre waste transfer station in Mount Joy Township have been canceled. Residents and leaders, including Betty Savidge, praised the decision as opponents noted ongoing county efforts. Commissioner Collins indicated further action by the board and group to continue work in Adams County while the site would be sold.

Lincoln Prize Created At Gettysburg College For Civil War Scholarship

United Way reaches goal honors Adams County volunteers

United Way of Adams County capped a record campaign by surpassing a 320000 goal and awarding 12 individuals and 38 county businesses. Campaign chairman BJ Small praised volunteers and donors, noting large contributions from Schindler Eierator staff and listing top fundraisers, award recipients, and company honors across the 1990 drive.

Adams County Library to establish associate trustees

The Adams County Library System board unanimously approves creating non voting associate trustees to bring experience and youth into the board, with future associate elections for one year terms. The move aligns with state rules reducing board size, while revising bylaws to have commissioners appoint trustees and allow member recommendations. The meeting also named trustees for potential second terms and set leadership for 1999 as Boden president and Robbins vice president.
