Fire officials ruled the Gettysburg Item Co building blaze likely started by an electrical malfunction in the roof. No arson found after joint state and borough investigations. County Assessor Resigns in Adams County
Adams County Chief Assessor John E Snyder will resign in June to return to auto sales and repair work. He cited health and stress from the job as reasons. County officials accepted the letter of resignation at Friday’s meeting. Snyder plans to reopen his used car sales business and auto body shop. He had been appointed chief assessor in March 1981 and had overseen a new system hiring part time assessors to replace elected municipal assessors.
