Recycling operation proposed in Adams County

Two Philadelphia men, John Bambach Jr and Walt Bambach of ITC Waste Services, urged Adams County Solid Waste Authority to back a commercial recycling plant. They described a facility handling 75 to 100 tons daily, separating ferrous and nonferrous metals, plastics, glass, and compost to cut landfill waste by 65 percent. A site of 2 to 4 acres near a landfill was envisioned, with potential expansion on a second shift. Bids for disposal contracts were set for April with a 10 year term under Act 101, while disposal sites must be DEA approved and could include Jand Hill in York or Franklin Counties.
