Fires and high winds ignite widespread county blazes

Adams County fire crews battled three house fires and multiple brush fires on Thursday as winds fanned flames across Gettysburg New Oxford Bonneauville and surrounding areas. A 100 acre brush blaze near Route 30 New Chester Swift Run burned woods and cornfields while houses on W High Street New Oxford and a six apartment building in Bonneauville suffered fire damage or were evacuated. Firefighters from five departments worked from dawn to evening to control the blazes, with water brought in by tankers and lines of fire crews including Gettysburg New Oxford Abbottstown Hampton East Berlin Brushtown and Port. No exact property losses were listed and families found temporary shelter.

Hearing Set In College Student Honor Case In Gettysboro
