In Carlsbad a schoolgirl beauty contest ended with a surprise winner a boy who entered for fun. Judges announced the top trio with Mariseh Swetnebker of the contest taking first but the victor admitted to not being a student, prompting a graceful reversal to the second prize winner.
A London inquest heard that widow Prudence Kirby aged T1 apparently injured her finger when a wedding ring became tight. She was admitted to Talington Infirmary where she died of asphyxia. A verdict of accidental death was returned. A jeweller advised methods to remove tight rings including cold water soapy cloth and, if needed, heat or a small circular saw to cut the ring.
The Perth–based owner of Edah Station near Yalgoo died at his Mounts Bay Road residence after a life spanning Portway House Somerset England to Otago New Zealand and Western Australia. Born 1862 he amassed Geraldton property then pinjarra farming lands. He leaves a widow three daughters and a son. funeral held at Kurrakatta Anglican Cemetery.
