Atlanta reporters say Chas. W. Morse has recovered health and strength and is on the verge of returning to financial life, countering doctors who predicted his death. Morse had been pardoned by President Taft on the belief he was broken and dying.
Beginning next Wednesday afternoon September 11 the Jewish people here will observe the New Year for twenty four hours with thanksgiving services. Places of business will close and no business will be transacted. Ten days later on September 22 Yom Kippur will be observed with fasting and seeking forgiveness for sins of the past year.

In Bollington Cheshire a seven year old boy named John Hanwell shocks locals by abusing his father. The court heard he terrorized his parent with kicks and beatings using a scrubbing brush and dolly pegs. The father testified he fetched beer and cigarettes to appease the child. An agent from the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children corroborated the brutal treatment ending with the boy sent to industrial school.
A neighbor reports a boy named Thomas used fearful language and threatened public disorder. Ellen Wood of the next door confirms the boy’s behavior and notes the Hancells’ elder son merely supplied beer and cigarettes at the child’s insistence.
Bo Sing Young, a St. Joseph opium smuggler now serving two months in a Savannah prison, assists local women with city beautification efforts. He contributes to the cash fund for planting vacant lots, helps plan a sunken garden on a burned site, and aids in arranging Oriental flower motifs. Young operates a chop suey restaurant in St. Joseph.
A Sonora mail automobile coach fleeing a bandit on a rough road between Concho and Devil's River in Texas sped away at full speed. The robber fired one shot but missed, and the coach successfully outran the assailant, with no injuries reported.
