Coroner R G Parnell was summoned to J K Parrott’s home five miles from Darlington to examine the body of a one and a half year old negro child. Sleeping in a cotton pile, the child wedged deeper into a small hole and suffocated as the night grew colder. The family discovered the tragedy at daybreak.
Jeff Richards, a Little River Lumber Co. employee, was killed by a rifle ambush in a Sevier County camp near the Blount County line. Fellow worker George Moore is suspected. a warrant is issued and Moore fled the camp with a rifle earlier today.
