Boy Charged After Charlestown Warehouse Fire

In Boston Charlestown district a small boy allegedly caused a blaze damaging hay-filled railroad warehouse No 26 and the Gillett & Sons wagon stock factory. Firemen fought flames to prevent spread to nearby homes and factories. Ten-year-old James Welch was arrested and reportedly confessed to tossing a lit firecracker into the hay. He is placed with a probation officer.

Mule's Armoure Sues for Damages Over Mule Incident

In a trespass suit N Jungharz, owner of a mule named Armoure, is sued for 5000 by father and 5000 by the mule’s eight year old rider. On May 13 the boy joined the defendant’s employ and was told to drive the mule, which allegedly was described as safe but proved a kicking animal, kicking the boy from the wagon, injuring his ear, knocking out two teeth and disfiguring his chin.

Beginning Wednesday afternoon Charleston Jews join the worldwide observance of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. The ten days of penitence lead to the solemn Day of Atonement with prayers, fasting, and the plea for life and health in the coming year.
