City ministers gathered at Duncan M church read a petition to the Postmaster General seeking discontinued Sunday mail delivery at Georgetown. The plea, signed by church members, urges City Council to enforce a Sabbath labor ban across businesses to curb perceived Sabbath desecrations.
Joseph Pulitzer proprietor of the New York World and the St. Louis Post Dispatch died of heart failure aboard his yacht the Liberty in Charleston harbor. He had been in ill health for days with no prior warning.

C L James a railroad conductor in Parkersburg West Virginia shot and killed his father in law William Pritchard and fatally wounded his mother in law.
