Hugh Richardson Garden, aged 70, organizer and captain of the Palmetto battalion, died in Southport North Carolina from apoplexy. A New York attorney for 25 years, he was born in Sumter South Carolina and had ties to Georgetown and the late Gen. E P Alexander and Grover Cleveland. The Garden family spent winters at Georgetown and he was formerly wealthy.
An old advertisement touts Dr Bell's Pine Tar Honey as a remedy for persistent coughing. It claims a few doses will stop the cough and suggests constant coughing depends on its use.
City of Georgetown South Carolina held its October 26 1910 session with Mayor pro tem Fraser and Aldermen Siau Munnerdyn present.
