Cotton is being brought to this market with no sales at present prices except in urgent cases. Farmers warn that 8 and 9 cent cotton could ruin them. Light rain fell last night with cooler weather expected today. Dillon mills closed for months, 80 percent of workers left town seeking jobs elsewhere, operations to restart soon under Superintendent Barlow after ten years.
The Southland Uplift Association announces a 2000 acre colony on land bought from Andrews Land Development Co between Earles and lanes along the Georgetown and Western Railway. Land priced at 15 per acre with credit terms includes church school hall cemetery and roads bridges and public improvements. local agent Dr J P Golden praises the site and expects success for both white and colored settlers in Georgetown county.
