In 1912 the director general notes only three years remain to prepare for a major exposition showcasing Latin American civilization. San Diego urges invitations to rich republics and expects increased commerce with southern counties as the city emphasizes its role as the Pacific coast port and hopes for stronger friendship and trade ties.
At a Williamsburg County Farmers Union meeting a resolution was adopted to extend note payments for fertilizer to February 1 rather than October and November. It urges county and local unions to appoint three member committees to seek cooperation from merchants and dealers. The state secretary sends the resolution to all unions statewide.

Dudley Payne a coal black man from Chillicothe Missouri died after a skin condition changed his appearance. The splotches began on his hands and spread upward until his face and upper body were white. The case will be reported to the National Medical Society to study this unusual disease baffling Northwest Missouri physicians.
Asheville North Carolina November 24 1911 coal loading for transport and steamers fuel will be first new business at Carolina and Georgia Atlantic ports after Panama Canal opens. Southwest Virginia coal moved by rail to ports will boost business in Spartanburg Columbia Greenville Charleston Charlotte Greensboro Raleigh Wilmington Atlanta Augusta Macon Savannah, with 3 000 000 tons of export coal expected to Charleston Wilmington or Savannah prompting railroads to invest millions to upgrade facilities.
The author warns of a looming coal export surge via the Canal that could bypass Charleston and boost Norfolk Wilmington Savannah New Orleans routes. He argues ports must cut fees and upgrade facilities to capture Pacific bound and fuel coal traffic, or risk losing substantial business and inland growth. He cites required dredging, wharfage, and office staffing increases to handle new tonnage and transit volumes.
