Escape attempt leads to fatal shooting at Fort McPherson
Walter Frady a 24 year old prisoner of Company B 22d Infantry stationed at Fort McPherson was shot and killed during an attempted escape. Fellow prisoner Pred B Jones escaped after helping Frady with a dump pile. Frady hailed from near Arden North Carolina and was arrested two weeks ago on desertion charges. Jones, a military convict with a six month sentence for desertion, was arrested three months ago at his home in Columbus Georgia.
