Gen M C Butler regrets his absence from Georgetown for the Winyah Indigo Society annual dinner on May 30 1907. He recalls securing the first appropriation for deepening the Winyah Bay Bar and notes Capt Bexley U S Engineers plans and river improvements. Washington May 14 reports Agriculture Department concern over Southern rice crop weather and planting, with early planting in Georgetown SC, April cold causing reseeding, and recent showers easing conditions.
