Florida Battleship Sets Speed Record on Trials

The battleship Florida reached 22.54 knots on standardization trials off Rockland Maine with rough seas and a brisk wind. Capt. Harry S. Knapp commanded the vessel as Rear Admiral Aaron Ward noted the high speed record. A four hour endurance test tomorrow requires an average of 20.75 knots. The ship will head to Provincetown and then Hampton Roads for a 24 hour run.
