Gold Brick ParCels Post Stir in Washington
Washington March 9 The House Postoffice committee orders printed a rider to the Postoffice Appropriation bill creating a Parcels Post system. It would cost a farmer 25 cents for an eleven pound parcel to a town but 1 82 to send to another route or to another farmer. Large retail mail order interests push for nationwide delivery under a 12 cent per pound cap. A finance burden and protected distant shippers are argued. President Taft cautions public utility expansion and private enterprise regulation.
