A half mile long avalanche buried the town of Mace near Wallace Idaho killing or trapping many residents. Rescue efforts by 500 workers recovered seven bodies and saved about twenty five people as blizzard conditions hindered the search.
Spokane reports the Burke and Mace landslide has 50 confirmed dead as of February 28 in Ida ho.
In northern Idaho near the Richard Coeur dAlene district a snowslide struck Mace burying twenty five houses with occupants. A second slide hit Burke crushing hundreds of tons of earth and snow. Fourteen bodies recovered at Mace sixteen at Burke with many unaccounted for.
Detroit Feb 28 Frank M Knott husband of the defense witness in the French trial testified that his wife’s testimony for Dr Fritch was false He said she was not in Dr G A Fritches office on August 27 and that she offered him money to testify Perjury allegations and payments were disclosed as both sides rested their case.
In the Recorder's Court the case against George and Fannie Dargan for selling whiskey was concluded with a guilty verdict. They paid 150 dollars to the city treasury. Charlie Johnson was fined or jailed for disorderly conduct: one day or one dollar.
George Stahl 13 and Sammy Williams 9 faced arraignment in New York for writing a note to Mrs. H. O. Havemeyer widow of the American Sugar Refining Co president demanding 2500 under threat of death. The youths claimed they acted as messengers for an unknown man. A handwriting test matched the note to Stahl. They were remanded for further examination Friday.
A Boston and Maine locomotive southbound froze to the tracks at Battleboro Vermont sixty miles north of Springfield Massachusetts. The temperature was twenty two degrees below zero as water supply lines froze and the engine could not move. Two locomotives bumped into the imprisoned engine to free it, causing about an hour delay.
All Dr. Cook asks is to be left in peace, not pieces, as authorities investigate threats targeting the physician.
Rescuers rush to two locations by special trains as a thousand workers search the area. Veteran residents warned of a deep snowpack in the district. Thirty five Italians trapped in a car on a railroad siding were swept into a canyon and used their tools to claw themselves from a deadly grave.

In a special communication to the council Mayor Nelson S. Pratt argues Spokane must raise wages from 2.75 to 3 dollars for laborers and from 5.50 to 6 dollars for teamsters. He notes rising prices since 1906 outpace wage gains and contends living standards justify a fair living wage.
Charles Galbraith, eight, of 1317 Fifteenth Avenue, praised by Van Cook of Spokane South Central High as the most wonderful all round amateur athlete in the world. He leads Y M C A aquatic contests, captains the basketball team, excels in tennis and gymnastics, and serves as leader of the school apparatus squad, wrestler, and horseman. Despite losing his right leg at the knee four years ago, he competes without crutches in the gym and field and is a top student.
