Richfield Plantation Sold to Northern Sportsmen for Winter Hunting

Georgetown June 22 Rich field plantation on the Santee River totaling 6500 acres has been sold by Ward Co to John Phillip Sousa James Kelley and Eugene Du Pont of New York and Wilmington Del. Du Pont aids the purchase citing shooting advantages and proximity to the sea. The property includes deer turkeys ducks quail and a trout pond with a hunting lodge and plans for a private club and winter resort with an auto track from Georgetown.

Will Study Foreign Systems of Credit

Washington, June 22. Acceptances to membership on the commission of the Southern Commercial Congress, which will go abroad next May to study European system of agricultural finance, were received today by Dr. C. J. Owens. The commission will be national in scope and return with information on rural credit suitable to the United States.

Six Perish In Flames in Rural Home Tragedy

June 22 report from Anderson recounts six Negro children aged 4 to 14 burned to death in their home Friday night. The mother Elizabeth Hunter was at prayer meeting when the kitchen fire started. neighbors did not see the blaze until it was well advanced. A bystander tried to guide the children to safety but smoke and heat prevented escape. The roof collapsed trapping the victims, whose bodies were cremated. burial was in a single coffin.
