Red Letter Day Fire Department Parade and Races
Crowds lined the streets before fire department events as 8 30 p.m. parade units moved from Front and Queen Streets led by City Brass Band. After the review, squads prepared for races with W H McDonald as starting judge and Ehrich Barnes and Rourke timekeepers. First event, hand reel contest, tallies include Salamander 14 3-5 seconds and Winyah 13 1-2. Further results to be reported tomorrow.

Prohibition Group Discusses Fund Raising and Prohibition
The Prohibition Law and Order League met at the Court House with H. L. Oliver as acting secretary. Members elected included S. W. Rouquie Sr., J. A. Thrall, H. L. Oliver, J. S. Pyatt, Rev. Sam Jones, Capt. J. H. Hopkins, Rev. Mr. Wallace, and Capt. H. B. Springs. The group urged subscriptions to fund campaigns and featured a reading on what Prohibition means, urging voters to support anti liquor measures.

Clemson Agricultural College Scholarship and Entrance Examinations
The County Board of Education will hold the Clemson Agricultural College scholarship and entrance examinations at the County Court House on Friday July 2 at 9 AM. Applicants must be at least 16 to enter the Freshman class. preparatory class has no scholarships. Scholarships worth 100 dollars plus free tuition. The next Clemson session begins Sept 8, 1909. Apply after June 20 to the County Superintendent of Education for details.
