Destroyer Sinks Off Tombay During Steam Trials

Four torpedo boat destroyers were in steam trials off Tombay when an explosion ripped through a vessel. Twenty sailors fell into the water and were rescued by the torpedo gunboat Dryad, which towed them to Plymouth. The destroyer sank about twenty minutes after the blast.
