Georgetown Graded and High School Commencement Held At Opera House
The Georgetown Winyah Graded School closure was witnessed by about six hundred people at the Opera House. Diplomas were given to five graduates Miss Essie Dear Orie Porter Miss Helen Joyce Miss Ruth Hazard and Miss Ida McKeithen. The program featured a debate on improving agricultural resources a casket scene from the Merchant of Venice and the Hamby Memorial Medal for scholarship awarded to Miss Marie St Germaine.

Darlington May Get Seaboard Railroad Outlet
At a June meeting Darlington officials and business leaders formed a committee to pursue bringing a new railroad from McBee in Chesterfield County to Darlington. They discussed Bonsal’s proposal and expect the line to run to Darlington, boosting local rail facilities.

Circus Train Wreck Free For All Lions And More At Large
A fifteen car circus train from Frank A Robbins Shows derailed one mile from Epensburg Pennsylvania on the Gambria and Cresson branch. Two lions an elephant one leopard one hyena one jaguar and an ibex are reported at large. Several employees were saved as rescue crews worked through the dawn wreckage and animals fled in the darkness.

Wrights thrill Indianapolis with two night flights
In Indianapolis on June 16 Orville Wright made two flights under poor weather. He climbed over two thousand feet after dark and saw the sun while earth lay in night. Wright called the sight awe inspiring and said high altitude pilots may glimpse day after sunset.
