Death of Mrs Porter 72. funeral set for 10 tomorrow
Mrs M J Porter died last night at 72 and will be buried tomorrow morning at 10 from the home of Mrs J E Whilden on Church Street. She divided time between Georgetown and Sumter. Survived by two sisters M A Flowers and A G Warren of Sumter, and brother Robert M Mack of Florence. Children J H Porter and John Porter of Georgetown, William and Edward of Jacksonville, Frank Porter of Lockhart, and Mrs W V Whilden of Sumter. The Sumter News notes the obituary notice.

In the Recorder's Court this morning Judge Shu ford presided. George Gibson pleaded guilty to petit larceny and was fined $2.50. Primus Judon was fined $5 for shooting a pistol within city limits. Abraham Joseph received a $5 fine for fighting along with Wm Judon also fined $5 for fighting.

Harris a negro youth sentenced to three years for housebreaking and larceny at age 11 was paroled during good behavior. He served under a white caretaker, J W Elliott of Lancaster, with Gov Ansel citing Elliott’s care and the solicitor’s opinion as grounds for release.
