In Los Angeles a Woodmen of the World group built a four room cottage on East 42nd Street in under nine hours. The project supplied for member Jas Harvey and his mother Mrs Margaret Harvey, who faces chronic rheumatism and cannot work. The 15 by 84 foot house includes bath, hot and cold water, gas and is valued at over $1,000.
In Bennettsville Magistrate J P Gibson wed a couple at seven minutes to midnight June 30 the ceremony took place just as the new license law began to take effect and the old family clock struck twelve ushering in July with a license requirement.
Columbia July 14 Governor Blease declares he will remove members of county boards of control who bought goods from houses defrauding the State under the dispensary system unless they give sound excuses. In Jeanette Virginia a wholesale fruit dealer George Lebarto fired on Italian barber Veni Cecilano after a Black Hand extortion letter signaled the demand. Four shots hit Cecilano and Lebarto’s daughter lost a finger as she appealed for mercy. Cecilano died later in hospital. Lebarto fled and was later identified by eight Black Hand letters seized from his daughter.
County Supervisor W P Cantwell reports progress on repairing and improving the Georgetown Charleston highway. Legislature allocates funds for grading and shelling sections from Mazyck's Ferry to Charleston and from Awendaw Bridge toward Charleston. The shelled ten mile section from Mount Pleasant expands toward McClellanville, with plans to shell the entire route.

R M McCowen asks state to amend the North and South Carolina Railway charter to extend from Mullins toward Georgetown. The plan would allow a 25 mile extension toward Britton's Neck, Marion County, with eminent domain notice required and a four week Marion County ad run before August 18 to show cause why the amendment should not be granted.
