Ex presses messenger J. W. burned to death when Alabama and Vicksburg fast passenger train No. 1 derailed and plunged into a creek at Chunky, 17 miles west of Meridian Mississippi. Several passengers injured lightly as cars left tracks. Reports indicate no other fatalities.
Pittsburg reports an indictment by a grand jury against Rev. Dr. W. D. J. B. Donahue of South Haven Michigan, a civil war captain and lighthouse keeper for 15 years, credits Electric Bitters with saving him from wrecks and ailments. St. Croix Falls Wisconsin January 13. Joseph Ordway of Balsam Lake owns a remarkable cat that outdoes most rabbit hounds. When fresh meat is needed he shows the cat a rabbit skin and it returns within an hour with a rabbit, laying it at his feet. The cat’s hunting instinct has persisted for years and the owner recalls rewarding the cat for past catches. Ordway has never witnessed every hunt in person due to the cat bringing in prey without his presence.
