House Passes State wide Prohibition Bill

Columbia, Feb 2 The House today passed Richard's statewide prohibition bill aimed at January 1910. The Senate has already killed a duplicate measure, making the act largely symbolic and inconsistent. The Senate opposes state wide prohibition and is expected to maintain the current liquor status for another year.

Seaboard rail line eyed Georgetown expansion

A Columbia correspondent reports Seaboard plans a new line tapping Florence and reaching Georgetown via McBee Ches terfield Stoke's Bridge Hartsville and Darlington with Florence as a hub. The commission names W R Bonsal J E Hancock Charles Gibbons S C Bauerfeld and Samuel Lawrence of Hamlet N C as promoters. The line would cover about 40 miles using steam electricity or gasoline and operate as an independent system with capital from 100 shares.
