Columbia, Feb 2 The House today passed Richard's statewide prohibition bill aimed at January 1910. The Senate has already killed a duplicate measure, making the act largely symbolic and inconsistent. The Senate opposes state wide prohibition and is expected to maintain the current liquor status for another year.
A Columbia correspondent reports Seaboard plans a new line tapping Florence and reaching Georgetown via McBee Ches terfield Stoke's Bridge Hartsville and Darlington with Florence as a hub. The commission names W R Bonsal J E Hancock Charles Gibbons S C Bauerfeld and Samuel Lawrence of Hamlet N C as promoters. The line would cover about 40 miles using steam electricity or gasoline and operate as an independent system with capital from 100 shares. The plan foresees condemnation powers and a 20 000 to 200 600 capital range. The report notes broader agricultural policy and the role of the Experiment Station in improving farming knowledge.

Salem New Jersey February 2 A farmer sold two hogs to a local butcher. After weights were taken the butcher kept the hams and shoulders and charged a balance of 2.85 to the farmer. The farmer ended up paying for the parts and gifting the butcher the rest of the hogs.
