Frederick Stockholm an Otis Elevator Company engineer from Yonkers suffered both femurs fractured by a sudden muscular strain after slipping from a desk edge. At sixty five he survived the unusual injury and is reported doing fairly well at St. John’s Hospital Yonkers.
Twelve men died and five injured when 700 pounds of dynamite detonated at Bocachica on the Florida East Coast Railway. An employee’s lighted cigarette ignited a fuse box, sending bodies and debris skyward as workers stood in four feet of water awaiting a dinner break. An inquiry will determine the cause.
