Cornelia Lohse arrives from New York for a position at Weinberg's. Mr. Webb to exhibit moving pictures in the old Bank building. Bernice Benny joins Southern Mercantile Co. in the city. J C Webb and A P Co. announce. Several residents travel to Jamestown Exposition and beyond. A shooting incident at Back Landing is reported and local advertising shows strong impact.
Chester B. Runyan former Windsor Trust teller who stole 963,317 testifies against Laura Carter the woman he lived with alleging she stole 26,000 of the missing funds. He says he was honest before meeting her and gave 10,000 to keep quiet while the rest disappeared.
Special to Daily Item. Mrs. Anna R. Hucks aged 68 died from injuries after being attacked by a Nubian Lion that escaped a Luna Park cage. The lion leaped on her tearing clothes and lacerating her chest before being killed with two bullets.
Fort Defiance reports a strong earthquake last night in Martinique with no damage observed so far.
A squib dampened asininity critiques Cleveland's failure to prosecute trusts while in office and elevates Roosevelt as a model. The piece argues trusts were overstated, credits Republicans for tariff policy favoring industry, and praises Grover Cleveland as a paragon of American citizenship and public trust.
