Florida Sheriff Killed in Jacksonville Hotel Shooting

Sheriff J. N. Langford of Starke Bradford County Florida was shot twice and killed in a Jacksonville hotel room this afternoon by W. T. Andrews also of Starke. Andrews was immediately arrested after the fatal confrontation tied to an old family feud. Gasoline Prices Seen Falling With Mitra Shipment Arrival

Automobiles and power boats in the city hope for a price drop as nearly 1.25 million gallons are unloaded from the British steamship Mitra from Borneo. The Mitra arrived Monday and local garage men say prices have risen from 8 to 15 20 cents a gallon in the past year, fueled by increased demand and production limits. Gulf Refining Company, owner of the shipment, declines to link it to price rises, while other oil merchants say the automobile boom is the main cause and foresee temporary shortages easing as American production expands. Foreign gasoline is not tariffed, and officials expect imports to stay profitable only if prices justify shipping costs.

The Georgetown post office will close on Sundays under the appropriation act for the year ending June 30 1913. General mail delivery and carrier services will halt Sundays while special delivery mail will still be handled.
