In Purcell Oklahoma on August 24 a mob of about 300 men women and children burned Peter Carter a Black man alive after he was captured for assaulting Mrs Minie Spraggins and setting her home on fire Officials tried to intervene but were overpowered Carter was pulled from beneath a box car and executed on an oil soaked brush heap tied to a pole as the crowd cheered and watched the death.

In Booneville Indiana this morning Richard Tee his wife Mrs Lee and their seventeen year old son Clarence were killed in their bed their house set ablaze doors and windows were locked. Firemen found incinerated bodies with skulls broken and the boy shot. Robbery appears to be motive and William Lee twenty one was arrested charged with the murders of his father mother and brother.
John Memera, a negro, was shot twice in a Myrtle Beach excursion car near Conway. The assailant fled. Memera was taken home in a baggage car and survived. The shooter is alleged to be a Trexler Lumber Co. mill fireman. a witness woman initially refused to name him.
