A dealer announces a large selection of matting in lengths from three yards to forty yards will be sold as is. No cuts will be made. The items include various pieces of China and Japanese origin offered in bulk for immediate purchase.
The store advertises China and Japanese mattings priced 14c to 19c and 12 1-2c to 2c per yard with odds and ends at 9c. It promotes heavy store sales with many items reduced: suits from 15.00 to 10.00 and down to 5.00 and 7.50, ladies ready made suits at half price, skirts from 10.00 down to 7.50 and 5.00 and 3.75. Fall tailoring line showcased with a fixture described as a gutter serving customers.
Local notes highlight M. Y. Weikel a decade in cutting and showcasing the Southern Mercantile Co line of tailor made clothing now open for inspection. Also: social notices, travel, a theft arrest, church power woes, strawride fundraiser, and a humorous matrimonial appeal by Bard of Steeletown.
On the 19th several ships arrived or were noted for cargoes. The Mitchelle C Dusen of Conway Naval Stores bound for Waccamaw Line Steamers. the Wm Elliott from Johnson to B A Munnerlyn Co. the Brunswick from Bellune hauling Black River lumber to B A Munnerlyn Co. the Bayard Hopkins from Thordelson with right to Richardson Cyprus Lumber Co in Philadelphia. the Frank Sessoms from Sarvis to Bucksville Musse by B A Munnerlyn Co.
