DeWitt Wiggins, son of H. H. Wiggins, died after an accidental bicycle fall on Main Street. A broken chain threw him against the pavement, injuring him fatally as a ruptured blood vessel in the head caused his death around midnight. Medical aid was provided but could not save him.
Emanuel Boland an inmate of the State Hospital for the Insane in Aiken county died by his own hand yesterday after a crisis of melancholia. He climbed to the third story veranda lattice and fell or let go, dying of a brain injury. Earlier he had drawn a knife from a guard and wounded himself but recovered before his final death at the asylum.
