Long distance lines extend to Charleston area
Charles ton Evening Post reports a large gang of linemen for Southern Bell stringing about 700 miles of wire from Lanes to Charleston and toward Sumter and Florence. The project aims to bring long distance service to the city and rural counties Berkley Williamsburg Georgetown and parts of Florence within three months. Manager Rousseau expects Georgetown Charleston connections by early November and notes rural service expansion will follow.
