On April 22 the Atlantic Transport Liner Minnehaha ran ashore off Hugh Town Scilly Islands and dumped part of its 17 000 tons of cargo into the tidal waves. All Pullman Excursion Planned From Columbia to Clinchfield
The Seaboard and C C O roads will run an all Pullman excursion from Columbia to Elkhorn City via Charlotte and Bostic. The northern terminus is Clinchfield with a daylight run north through scenic mountains. Departure is at night with arrival in Charlotte by morning and return trips planned with Dante for daylight on the return. Meals and sleeping cars included for about $20.

New Yorkers Fight for Life in Midair
Springfield Massachusetts April 22 three thousand spectators watched the balloon Springfield lift from Court Square extension with A Holland Forbes John Parker and William Hull of New York City on board. The craft caught in tree branches swung toward an apartment building narrowly missing a collision before Forbes cut ballast and the balloon rose clear. Weather forced the landing in Hadley about twenty five miles from Springfield instead of Brattleboro Vermont or Keene New Hampshire.

Maniac Engineer Wrecks a Train Near Edgemoor
Engineer William C. Moore of an extra freight from Jersey City ignored danger signals near Edgemoor yards on the Pennsylvania line. His locomotive struck a Philadelphia freight, wrecking and burning cars but injuring none. Moore was captured, restrained, and placed in a strait jacket at the Delaware Hospital after a frenzy.
