Cleveland April 18 Henry May Fot special agent for the Chinese Merchants' Association of America argues a Chinese vessel sinking would save men first then children and finally women, stating men are most valuable to the State and adoptive parents can be found for children while single women are less useful.
Miss Julia Carter a prominent Philadelphia society figure died of gas inhalation in her apartments. The coroner ruled it a self inflicted death, noting a farewell note to a sister and estrangement from her family who threatened to cut off allowances. Her mother, Mrs. Henry L. Carter, visited in a bid to bring her home.

Delegates to the county convention are chosen with one delegate per 25 members, and a county meeting is set for May 6 1912 to elect delegates to the State Democratic Convention in Columbia.
