A lengthy paper argues Kenosha & Beloit Railroad to Genoa would boost Geneva by creating a regional market hub. It contends Philadelphia-sorted grain flows favor Genoa, Racine, Springfield routes, and pushes for a direct Kenosha route to Genoa with Central Railroad connections to maximize local trade and prevent loss of business to nearby towns.
The Express notes an election for County Judge to occur after the first Tuesday in April, following W C Ax ters resignation. Several candidates are named, with Hawern and Lyman Cowudrey seen as strong Democrats, while others are dismissed as unsuitable. A private letter reveals S F Baxxart plans a visit to Genes eu to teach penmanship, praised by the press for his success and guidance.
In a Geneva Walworth County Wisconsin item from February 1856 readers hear that the Kenosha and Beloit Rail Road is favored for Bloomfield Township with Geneva as an outlet. A letter asserts Geneva should be connected or served similarly to Genoa, arguing the north half of Bloomfield supports Geneva and would benefit from a nearby market four miles away. A new endorsement notes prospects for a fall completion to Geneva and a lake outlet. An accident report tells of Thomas Gadlin, a railroad hand, killed when a frozen bank collapsed on him north of the village. The notice also mentions school certification for G M Dewey and ongoing literary items.
